Annual Multi-Stakeholder Consultation

We the members of the UN Global Consultations Committee, on behalf of the United Nations Association of the USA, San Francisco Chapter (UNA-SF), are pleased to announce the publication of the Collective Narrative for this year's Annual Multi-Stakeholder Consultation that occurred on April 25, 2022. Please click here to read it!

This annual consultation built on the work we accomplished the last two years in response to the public invitation made by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.  In 2020 and 2021, we conducted eleven consultations and shared the results with the United Nations as well as with our National, State, and local leaders, consular corps members, UNA Affiliates, and other relevant decision-makers. 

We published the results of our 2020 consultations in the UN75  Report: Voices of San Francisco—the Birthplace of the United Nations. 

While we are planning to conduct a similar series of consultations with various stakeholder groups for the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, we decided to host one multi-stakeholder consultation on April 25th every year to commemorate the start of the United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO) held in San Francisco in 1945.  

We are calling for the people of San Francisco to gather virtually on an annual basis to discuss what local and global issues matter to our community, how the work of the United Nations affects these issues, what other stakeholders hold the most power to make positive change, and what collective message we want to communicate to the United Nations and other stakeholders through our combined advocacy channels.

The results of these annual consultations will be published in standalone reports (see 2021’s report here) and will also contribute to the UNA-SF’s UN80 Report in 2025 representing the evolution of the discourse over the years.  This historic and evolutionary documentary of the ongoing Voices of San Francisco may guide the future of the local as well as international community.

The 2022 Annual Multi-Stakeholder Consultation was conducted via Zoom on Monday, April 25th from 17:30 to 19:00 PDT. Delegates engaged in three rounds of small group conversations followed by a round of synthesis and shared reports.  Please expect another consultation on or around April 25, 2023, and come back here to check for updated details.
