The United Nations Association, USA, San Francisco Chapter, in partnership with the American Legion Post 315, invites you to a specialprogram on

World Environment Day on June 5, 2019, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the War Memorial Veterans Building in San Francisco. UNA-USA SF provides a platform for participants to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDGs 17 & 16). SDGs 11.6 (Air Quality and Waste Management), and SDG 11 C (Sustainable and Resilient Buildings) will be featured in this program.

What Is the State of the Unhoused in San Francisco?

The United Nations Association of San Francisco (UNA-SF) and the American Legion Post #315 present this program as part of the UNA’s “Rule of Law” Series. Exhibitors include non-profit organizations and NGOs to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable as well as SDG 11.1: By 2030 ensure access to adequate, safe, and affordable housing, and basic services and upgrade slums.

The United Nations Association of San Francisco was pleased to bring to you Equal Justice for Women, a special program in celebration of International Women's Day, in partnership with the American Legion Post 315, and the UNA-USA Marin Chapter. The program explored the impact of gender equality and UN SDG #16 by bringing together leaders who champion gender parity locally and on the national stage. Our conversation took a deep dive into the ways women strive for equality in work, education, family violence and human rights. 

On Monday, December 10th, 2018, we celebrated 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. with four special sessions from 12 noon to 9 pm, at the birth place of the United Nations, the War Memorial Veterans Building, 401 Van Ness Avenue. Room 210. The Celebration is presented by the UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION, USA, Chapters of SAN FRANCISCO, MARIN COUNTY, SAN DIEGO, and BEVERY HILLS, in Partnership with the AMERICAN LEGION POST 315, as well as the UNITED NATIONS OFFICE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER ON HUMAN RIGHTS and the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY LAW HUMAN RIGHTS CENTER.

Program Sponsors included the Consulate General of Switzerland, the Association of Junior Leagues International, and the League of Women Voters of San Francisco. Featured speakers include SCOTT P. CAMPBELL, Senior Human Rights Officer, United Nations Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights, and KAREN FERGUSON, Ph. D., Executive Director, International Rescue Committee.

Our UNIVERSAL CHILDREN’S DAY Celebration will break the silence locally and globally about female genital mutilation and child marriage. We are bringing H. E. Ambassador Moushira Khattab from Cairo to celebrate UNIVERSAL CHILDREN’S DAY and her success in ending female genital mutilation and child marriage. 

Surprisingly, we have an estimated 500,000 victims in the USA.  At least 23 States do not have child marriage laws.  Our panel of thought leaders will share their outstanding campaigns to save girls from ongoing violence. Charming GenUN Members from the Lee Kane Dance Theater will perform a special choreographed story just for us.  We are especially grateful to the Hotel Zoe and CAL PAR RIO Travel for generous in-kind contributions. 

UNA-SF and UNA Marin County in partnership with the American Legion Post 315 hosted the 73rd Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Series and United Nations Day, with a Panel of Experts on Human Rights, Gender Pay Parity, and SDG#5 (Gender Equity).

Seventieth Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  Articles 13, 14, 20, 21, 28  & Sustainable Development Goals  1, 10, 11, 16, 17.

Part of the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights series, this program addressed UDHR Articles 6: right to recognition as a person before the law, 14: right to asylum in other countries, and SDG #10: reduced inequality and #3: good health and well-being.

As part of the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights series, join us to honor the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education, and Article 26: Right to Education, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Join us to celebrate the INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY in partnership with the American Legion, the Canadian Consulate, and the UNA-USA Marin Chapter. The event will initiate the 70th Anniversary Celebration Series of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and feature Article 1 Right to Equality and Article 2 Freedom from Discrimination.

On December 10, 2017, Human Rights Day kicks off a year-long campaign to mark the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To celebrate, join the San Francisco Human Rights Commission at 1:OOpm for a private reception and 2:00pm for a discussion with actor, humanitarian, and San Francisco native Danny Glover. Glover is well respected for his wide-reaching community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a particular emphasis on  advocacy for economic justice as well as access to health care and education programs in the United States and Africa.

NORTH KOREA: THE IMPACT OF SANCTIONS VERSUS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The event will feature speakers who discussed the challenges facing NorthKorea and the best means for building peace and security in the region. 

This year's celebration will feature a panel of international law experts who will discuss the new book The Internationalists: How a Radical Plan to Outlaw War Remade the World.
